Santa
Cesarea Terme is the
main Apulia’s
thermal resort, not
only because of its
sulphureous grottas,
where you can have
a healthy relaxing
bath, but also thanks
to its thermal spa,
in which you can enjoy
beauty health treatments.
Santa Cesarea Terme
climbs obstinately
the cliffs that skirt
the Otranto Canal,
so that you can admire
a really spectacular
landscape. The peculiarity
of this place is the
oriental atmosphere
coming from the Moorish
architecture of some
fascinating villas
dropping from the cliffs
to the sea (see the
picture).
You must visit: the
sulphureous grottas,
Villa Sticchi, Villa
Raffaella, Torre Miggiano
(one of the chief examples
of the several warning
towers in Salento),
Porto Miggiano and
the Belvedere. |

At the
extreme end of the
heel of Italy there
is Santa Maria
di Leuca. On the top of the Cape
you can see the imposing
lighthouse and the
very ancient Shrine
of Santa Maria of Leuca.
Here the shape of the
coast is quite characteristic,
as proved by the presence
of a lot of grottas
carved out by the sea
during the centuries.
You must visit: the
Shrine of Santa Maria
of Leuca, St. John
Church, the harbour
and the bridge “Ciolo”. |

Our
tour ends in Castro
Marina, a splendid
place situated on a
rocky indented hill
cooled by the Oak Wood,
which is 6 km from
Castiglione d’Otranto.
In Castro you can appreciate
charming panoramas
and a limpid, crystalline
sea, incomparable in
its beauty.
You must visit: Zinzulusa,
Romanelli and Palombara
grottas; the Belvedere;
the Holy Annunziata
Church and the Madonna
of Pompei’s Church.
